-THIS IS ONE OF THE STEP BY STEP TO HAPPINESS, ENJOY THE PROCESS-

This is what I believe and only the ones that believe what I believe will read until the end of this article.

Why am I saying that? Because, I am not looking for attention.

I am looking for people that share my beliefs and my aims in life. I am looking for people that think about life the same way I think of it. I am looking for people that want to make a difference in theirs and someone else life. I am looking for people that believe they can be part of a change. I am looking for people that they believe they can change the world, even with small tiny steps but they FEEL they can. I am looking for people that whatever choice are going to make is for themselves and not for me or anyone else. I am looking for people that believe in hard work. I am looking for people they work for their objectives and even if they don't have one, they know if they don’t work for it, they won’t get anything in return. I am looking for people they know at one point all the work done will pay off. I am looking for people they know that complaining is not going to take you anywhere. I am looking for people they don't give up because anytime you give up a part of you dies. I am looking for people they are able to smile and cry without problems. I am looking for people they want to be happy and make people happy.

If you see what I have described or you feel is dormant inside you, and you do not know how to make it flourish come and join me.

WHY I DO WHAT I DO

Before starting any chat I think is due an explanation of why I do what I do and why I am choosing to help health professionals to be happier. I am going to talk about me and my experience. Probably you are going to see yourself in what I am saying.

I am nurse and I think I do a hell of a job. It is so full of life I can't explain it fully. Now, there was something was making me go nuts. I felt I was giving 110% and getting back maybe a 10% only. How come, I was wondering, I break my back, I work hard, my brain is fried in the end of the day and I do the extra mile every time I am at work for the patients and their relatives, and I get back so little?

I was also considering the fact, and that is fact, that sometimes we are not treated well by the patients or the relatives or even in between nurses! I feel like the society does not see how essential is our job for the community and how much difference we may make, but at the same time us (nurses) we do not hold the pride of doing a job like this.

I bet this question you have made it all.

Well, I think there are 2 points to be analyzed.

The premise is that I WILL NOT FIND EXCUSES OR COMPLAIN, because It does not help and it will never help. I am totally against complaining as it cut creativity and problem solving in human being and is a vicious circle that absorb you deeply.

The society and the nurses.

Be careful now, they are very interconnected. I believe the society that we live in does not still recognise our job as it should be, I still see a big difference of behaviour from the patients towards us in comparison for example towards the doctors. I say that because sometimes our patients do not really see us as the competent and professional as we are in reality, they still have the idea of the nurse that can give you a basic care. Now, at this point, shall I start blaming the society? MISTAKE! I could, I could simply do it and let this flow of complain break all my beliefs. Yes, because it is so easy to complain and not to face the reality, to complain and not to find a solution, to complain and expecting someone else to find a solution for us. I will not do that.

I will look into the reasons why NURSES ARE NOT FULLY CELEBRATED FOR THEIR WORK, looking at active solutions.

This leads me to the second point: the nurses.

There is a culture of complaint in nursing and there is a culture of ‘non sticking together’. Wanting or not we all experience that everyday. Of course, there are exceptions and I am glad there are but that is not what I want to talk about. Nurses like to complain because they are busy, badly paid, not enough holidays, too many patients, ‘is too much’ and on and on and on. I feel there is a lot to complain about and a little is done to solve these problems that affect us everyday, every shift.

What if I say that the way the society looks at us is our responsibility? What if I say we start and actively looking for solutions instead of complaining. What if I say our colleague is a resource and we NEED TO LOOK AFTER EACH OTHER.

I think this is the key of everything, finding a solution to our everyday problems, taking it to another level and try to become happier and therefore more productive in our NURSING LIFE. Let’s be honest, we cannot expect sometimes our jobs are fully recognized by the patients all the time, we would be fool thinking that a patient is fighting for their own health would give their 100% to us. It would be nice anytime a patient is discharged to be invited to a party for ‘our super excellent work as nurse’. This will not happen.

The things we can change are the ways the society looks at us, we can change it showing how professional, prepared and excellent workers we are, clinically, verbally, emotionally and with the big heart we have. We can change something essential in our daily life at work, we can stick to each other.

How? Investing time and strength toward your colleague, be kind to them, be mindful towards them.

Changing the way we see things and make of nursing the real change in the community we live. I believe nursing is the mirror of the society and It is up to us, it is our responsibility to do it.

I can help you, with my method, to achieve these objectives which are in my belief the key to being happier at work and therefore having better performances.
