In the middle of a (almost) second wave caused by Covid-19, I am sitting in front of my laptop writing something I wish it could change the reader's mind about the future awaiting for us.
Yesterday, after an emotional moment of discomfort about the future I felt something I did not feel for a long time; hope.
When I say hope, I really mean hope for the future.
I have realised that, regardless of the most catastrophic news the TV is giving us (I would say they are getting worse and worse), there is one rule it never fails. It is the same rule that govern our life since the beginning of our days.
One day all of this will be over because, what begun will also end. Nothing begins without an end written on it (apart from Netflix's series Dark). We are all finite players in a finite world. Also this virus knows one day he will be leaving this world. It's the law of the universe.
And now what?
Now hold tight. I really mean it, hold tight, because until this is over it can get nasty. I am not gonna go into the "please stay safe, wash your hands, wear your mask". I am not here to say that. I am here to give you a different perspective.
We have a future full of opportunities
Wether you see it or not we have plenty of opportunities in front of us. If you don't wanna see them I am sure there are plenty of people already looking for them. So, please, switch off the "victim mode" and begin to accept what's happening. The coming future is a different future and there is only one thing you need to do in order to succeed. ADAPT. Again, this is like reading a history book. The species that managed to survive throughout history were not the stronger, but the ones that adapted better. And guess why human beings are still here, because we are freaking awesome in adapting to whatever comes at us. So START already.
Few things that may come handy
Switch off the news, media won't help. Choose some papers online you trust if you want to get informed and get rid of the sour syrup they display everyday.
Stay positive, practicing positivity:
Meditate: this will help you stay present and appreciate much more the small things you have. Believe me, happiness is just one step away and doesn't need magic.
Before going to sleep write or tell your partner 3 good things of the day: it will train your brain to look for positivity. Just a reminder, to form an habit you only need 21 days. 21 days it's not too long right?
Do one single act of kindness towards somebody you know (or not) without expecting anything in return. You'll feel a better person and you'll have more hope in humanity.
Practice sports that take care of your mental health and not only your physical one. I happened to be a yoga teacher, let me know if I can help you.
Appreciate the extra time you have been having. Do you remember those busy lives we were into? Covid gave us all the time we need. Are you using it or you are throwing it in the bin?
Stop complaining. If you keep complaining the only results you are gonna get is just a more miserable life.
Read a book that you have read when you were at your top. It will give you that nice, juicy feelings that you can make it.
The last but not the least
I think we have the moral responsibility to make things better starting from our small/big environment. To turn this period upside down it's our responsibility, it's not only up to our health/political system. The change begins from our small actions. Probably this won't be a period to remember for its happy days but I am sure it will give us much more than cough, fever and loss of smell. What will be I don't know but i think it's worth to try to make it an opportunity to laugh instead of crying.
This is how I want to live because I know that Covid-19 one day, will be just a memory.
